You could try to reopen the case with Supporting evidence of ill health and age. This is a long shot, but a good attroney should be able to pose a compelling argument. Also, try to get an infopass appointment and talk to someone about your options.

One of my family member came to US on visitor visa a year ago. She was granted 6 months visa at the port of entry. After 6 month, she filed for another B1/B2 extension with USCIS and was granted another 6 month of stay. The 6 month extension is about to expire.
She had booked her tickets and got ready to leave but unfortunately she became seriously ill and currently is not in a condition to travel. She is going through medical treatment but because of the seriousness of the illness, it might take another couple of months before she is healthy enough to travel.
Now the question is can she apply for 2nd extension of visa based on medical ground. By law, can she even file for a 2nd extension given that she has already been in the country for about 12 months. I talked to an attorney and he said that she can file but likelihood of getting another extension is very low.
If another B1/B2 extension is not possible, is there any other kind of visa available for her to stay here while she is going through the medical treatment?

I am thinking of taking an Info Pass nevertheless and try to get some status about my case. If the IO mentions anything about "normal processing times" I am gonna ask him how can he tell whether my case is currently within normal processing times or not ! And see how what response he/she gives me.
They had already made PD bulletins a big joke and now added the Processing date bulletin to that bucket. I wonder what kind of improvements (if at all) in the accuracy of data that we will see after their DB upgrades...

I have a Nikon D70, a 18-70mm and 180mm 2.8 Ai MF.
I�m thinking to buy this old len Nikkor AF 70-210mm, but i would like some tips and help about it.
I heard that the version D of it, 4-5.6D, is fastter than no-D version. Is it really true ?
And what about the version f/4. Is it better than 4-5.6 and D ? But i heard about it is less fast in focus than 4-5.6D too.
Who has this lens to tell me something ?
Which one is the best ?
There is a lot 4-5.6 non-D to sell here in Brasil, but D its a little more dificult and expensive.
This D, worth the extra money or the velocity of the focus from non-D its not so extraordinary.

it's more Marketing rubbish..
certainly it'll be a better 6MP image than before, but it won't have the pure resolution of a 1Ds or 14N.
Dynamic Range will be nice, but doesn't tip it over the edge. Why don't they go bigger in MP? One might ask.... I think they're finding it tough.. Somehow Canon has nailed it. Kodak couldn't.
Interesting times ahead!!

Just to be contrarian, I think the recent H1-B and L-1 fee increase is an opportunity. Instead of playing a victim of legislative abuse, we should come out batting with an offense. We should get businesses to lobby for us. We should get congress people educated about the unfairness. We should not say the fee is wrong, because these are after all elected officials and they will not jeopardize their election prospects by going against this measure. So we should say ok take this fee but then provide us with administrative fixes that we want.
The H1B/L1 fees is designed to hit the body shopping business model. It is nothing but a
legal/labor cost arbitrage that most indian IT service shops follow.
The fees is not the last but the beginning and more will be piled on as they will come back again in a year or so to fund more "secure the mexican border" initiatives. It is a beast that can never be satisfied. The American It companies are not impacted by the 50% rules and they care less about it. So it the resistance effort will be very minimal...like it happened this time.

Hello everyone,
Can anyone define who (what) are the nonprofit organization that would be the exempts for the regular H1-B Cap?
USIS's website says they are the "institutions of higher education or a related or affiliated nonprofit entity" or "a nonprofit research organization or a governmental research organization."
I understand colleges and governmental organization are included, but what else qualifies for this category? I mean there are millions of nonprofit orgs...from the one that does important research for a state to the one that helps promoting the US. film industry to the one that cleans up streets for free....I'm just so confused.
Any little help would be most appreciated.

Little if any forward movement of the cut-off dates in most Employment categories is likely until the extent of the CIS backlog of old priority dates can be determined. It is estimated that the FY-2009 Employment-based annual limit will be very close to the 140,000 minimum.

I am writing this Blog entry from my conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association in Washington DC. In this past few days Immigration lawyers from across the nation gathered here in DC to share ideas and discuss our Immigration laws and policy. On Thursday not so far from our conference, the President (maybe he planned it), discussed Immigration reform for the first time in months.
President Obama stepped back into the political minefield of immigration policy Thursday, arguing for big changes in what he called a "broken" immigration system. But he warned that no such changes are possible without some Republican support.
From months now, Latino activists have been pushing the president to make good on his promise to overhaul the nation's immigration system. Thursday, in a speech at American University here in DC, Mr. Obama took up the challenge.
The speech followed meetings earlier in the week with immigration activists and Latino lawmakers.
To those concerned with security along the southern border with Mexico, Mr. Obama said, he's already put more boots on the ground than ever before. But, he argued, border enforcement by itself will not stop the flow of illegal immigrants.
Immigration is back in the spotlight now thanks to a new Arizona law requiring police to question anyone they suspect of being in the country illegally. Mr. Obama says he understands the frustration that led to that law, but he thinks Arizona went too far. His speech helped to lay the groundwork for an expected legal challenge by the Justice Department.
These are exciting times for all of us at the Immigration Bar, and being here in Washington makes you feel like part of the debate. I promise to keep you updated as we hear from USCIS officials and other government representatives on upcoming changes and other issues.

In May 2007, it jumped to 01AUG03. I hope that there will be a movement in Jan 2009, Feb 2009 VB but looking at the trends it doesn't smee like there will be any.
