Of course they are less expensive. No packaging, no media, no store space, no shipping required.

    They should be less expensive.

If they were the same price this would be a serious problem. I still have a problem at the outrageous prices of CDs and DVDs because they are more expnsive than cassettes were, but cheaper to produce. It is all about greed and $$.

Apple wants to make money too. but they eliminated some considerable costs.

I knew if I scrolled down far enough I'd find someone that had already said exactly what I would have posted on this subject.

Yes this is partially the reason. The other reason is that Apple refuses to even allow the option of current generation video cards in their products. Even when they upgrade they are often not top of the line. The best card on the imac you can get is capped at 512MB which was starting to be a small amount of video memory even back in 2006. I think a current generation gpu should at least be offered as an option.

Yes Windows has had "minimize" too for many many years. Just press Alt-Tab, this is not exclusive to OS-X.Not minimize, but rezize on the fly. However, i'm not to sure about the graphics card argument, because, like you said, the game runs better on the same mac, just in windows, which I have also noticed, but I still prefer to run SC 2 in OS X.

Can someone tell me how can a small SD card be able to hold 2t. If this is the case why are most External HD so much bigger?

The problem is not that we build too many highways to nowhere, it is that they don't know how to properly design a highway in the first place. Traffic jams are caused by bottlenecks. Adding 5 more lanes won't fix it if the bottleneck still exists. Lets fix the roads we have now and build them to allow traffic to move more freely.

Anyways, if you don't want to sell something to somebody for WHATEVER reason, no matter how ridiculous, shouldn't that be your right?

Nope. There needs to be a rational reason for denying someone service.

I can accept denying service to a customer who hasn't bathed in a year and is driving other customers away because of their horrendous body odor.

I can't accept denying service to a customer based solely on the color of their skin.

That $130k will all go to the lawyers, even if he is able to establish that he has a legal "right" to sell those parts, and I think that'll be a challenge.

Yeah, that's the sad part; lawyers will walk away with all the profit. How absurd is that?

I suppose if these casings were literally thrown away by Apple, and he's able to prove it, then it wouldn't be any different than those people who go through the bins and pawn off the treasures they find... Mind you, I don't know whether that's legal either.

Where did they say in the website that you need to buy antivirus software?

And did they compare the build quality or just specs?

You dont need to buy AV software. You need it as much as you need it on OSX IMO. Viruses arent the problem anymore. Trojans are.

Plus Microsoft provides it free as Microsoft Security Essentials so you can add $0 to it.

If you don't want to do it though, just don't use it. Simple as that. Always has been, always will.

"Don't want to do it? Then don't do it."but I have to! If I don't then who is going to complain and whine about it?

Smurf Village is certainly an easy trap. You have to enter your password to download the "free" game, then your kids have 15 minutes to spend real money on in-app purchases. This has never happened to me, but my son did buy an album on the iTunes store once. Parents should obviously disable one click purchasing on any computer that their kids use. And maybe they should wait 15 minutes before handing the phone over to their kids. In my experience Apple is very good about refunding money in situations like this, so I think most parents will be able to get a refund if their kid buys $99 worth of smurfberries. After this experience those parents should disable in-app purchases. In Capcom's defense, they have placed obvious warnings in the app store and in the app.

It would be nice if apple added "always require password for purchases" to the parental controls. Or a checkbox that says "keep me logged in for 15 mins" on the purchase window.

I think consumers, and Apple, should solve this "problem" without the aid of the government.

Macs, since they are built on Unix, run processes at night that clean up logs files, optimize the drive (Windows term is defrag), etc.

I don't know if this would be the cause of the noise but I've noticed before sometimes my processors would be up in the 40-50% region when I'm not doing anything, and a look at the Activity Monitor would reveal the Unix processes that were running in the background.

Even after that comparison of Apple's products to Windows', I'd still buy Apple.

Don't tell me that I'm wasting my money just because I can easily afford to purchase a Mac. Most of the people that talk crap about Macs are the ones that can't afford them, so of course they're going to talk bad about them.

I like cheap car vs. luxury car analogy. A Kia has four wheels, a windshield, a hood, and a trunk just as Rolls Royce does, but should Kia start a campaign that calls Rolls Royce over priced and a waste of your money? I certainly hope not.

Don't be hatin' on Apple because you're broke and can't afford one. :)

I should mention until this year, I was 100% for Microsoft and thought you had to be an idiot to purchase a Mac, and like the trolls on this forum, attacked Apple users for owning a Mac..Well, I see it the other way around now.

Realize that we are often targeted by PC users first. We are a minority, and as such we band together. Some of the group may go a little overboard, but you must understand that we have been persecuted for years. When the rest of the world gave up on Apple (remember that Wired cover with the Apple wrapped in barbed wire and the word "Pray"?), we stood fast and kept up our faith in a company that has delivered time and again.

Just buy T-Mobile. Its cheap and compatible with the current iphone hardware. Looks like its worth around 10 billion. They could just write a check. Its actually right up apple's alley given their hostorical desire to control everything under the umbrella. They would obviously have to make significant investments to to get the network up to par with ATT and Verizon, but the returns are there. The iphone would be untouchable if Apple controlled the networks. They would change the whole industry. Better yet, Deutch Telekom wants to sell.

Fair enough. How did you get onto the subject of the Mac line in in a thread about the iDevice 30 pin connector?

Read the thread. This particular conversation spawned from someone saying they needed to buy adaptors for their Mac.

That was wierd. When i came to this forum just now. I thing stuck to my screen even when i scolled up and down, it said "macrumors - FoldingTracker (a widget just for you!)"

anyone had this before. It does not do it again. I got a screen shot of it. I will post it later.

(i did a fast crop of it)

Yeah, I get that bug sometimes too, started in panther. I think it's triggered when you activate expos and then remove in some funny way, like really fast and then only moving your cursor like one pixel. But it's pretty hard to do it purposely.

    Wake up Apple.

I'm pretty sure Apple is well aware of how royally ATT is screwing things up. The only questions are: 1) when does ATT's exclusivity actually end, and 2) which other carriers will Apple partner with.
