He's better than the McCain would have been in most things, but on a whole he gives in to the Republicans way too much. He passed their healthcare plan instead of one that would actually work, kept Guantanamo open, and as far as "National Security" goes he's about the same as Bush. So basically, he was the best of the two choices, but still not very good.
"yes he can" lie.
Obama is a joke. False hope and the naive people didn't think so.
Trump's hair is seriously the mojo. Love it.

I don't think this will serve Apple any good to stop podcasters from using Pod in the name. It will only create ill-will and lessen the use of Pod which I would think would be a good thing for Apple.

If you can watch an HD movie over your satilite or cable system then somehow the cable or stilite company found a way to electronically distribute the HD content to you. That 25GB of data found a way to get into your house. Not only did it get into the huse but it did it in real time
Exactly - I watch HD content and HD on-demand nearly every day in my house. if my crappy cable provider can deliver this nearly any mega-corp can.

So when everyone buys hybrids and the gas tax revenue dries up we will be forced to pay for how far we drive. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has a suggestion for raising money to fix the nations highways: tax drivers based on how many miles they drive each year.
In a report written in response to a request from Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota), the CBO laments about the shortfall in the federal budgets appropriation for highway maintenance and reckons its time drivers start footing the bill based on how often their foot is on the gas pedal. The driver would be charged according to the number of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) above that which he is allowed under appropriately promulgated guidelines.
The 26-page study is entitled (none to cleverly) Alternative Approaches to Funding Highways and goes into some detail regarding the new tax scheme and the benefits and challenges thereof.
About 25 percent of the nations highways, which carry about 85 percent of all road traffic, are paid for in part by the federal government.... reads the opening line of the paper. In other words, why should the federal government, already so strapped for cash, keeping paying so much for the highway while those who use them get a free ride?http://www.thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/congress/6847-cbo-recommends-taxing-drivers-for-miles-traveled

agreed. and i've seen other very active forums where they have give-aways and stuff for the "folder of the month" and such. i've even seen some members give other members video cards or computers, as long as they agree to use it for folding.
as far as a new system on a budget - what is your budget, and when do you plan on buying? both of those factors play a part
I was thinking could Arn not give out a paid subscription to the forums for a year say when you hit milestones of 250,000 points or so, so from Jan to Dec if you accumulate a minium you get the next year?
Budget is around AUS$800-1000, and I will be getting most of the parts in 3 to 4 months unless there is new tech coming not to long after it?

I agree. The Intel 3000 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. If you want to play games, don't bother with an Air.
I think to dictate what people should or shouldn't do with their machines is silly. Search the forums and the internet. The Air has proven to be plenty capable as a gaming machine for it's size and has many satisfied users talking about it.
A computer is a tool. If it can't perform the function that you want it to (aka gaming), then why buy it? It's function over form. Not the other way around.
A computer is certainly a tool, but it can also be a gaming machine, a home theater pc, an entertainment hub, etc.; whatever a user may find use for it for.
Obviously, certain machines are better and worse at certain functions than others, but don't forget that this generation of MBA, there are people that actually did go out and buy the Air because one of the reasons is that it did happen to be a decent performer in games, while remaining ultra portable. In this case, I think the Air strikes an excellent balance between function and form.
IAs for the backlit keyboard, it's both function and form but I usually don't rely on it to type something unless I'm hunting for a key that I don't use very often. No, I don't memorize where the keys are, I just have been typing on a keyboard for many years and now where the keys are because that's how I learned to type.
I use my Air for live music sets and this is exactly a scenario where such a BL KB would be grand. I read similar opinions from other musicians on this forum in another thread. Creative artists like live musicians can definitely find appropriate use for a backlit kb, but even average everyday users who don't share the same skill level as you would also benefit from it. If anything, adding convenience is always a welcome.
If you don't want or need the backlit kb, then you could always turn it off. It's there for people who might need it. Win-win situation.

$4.10 so I pay around 40-50
I am expecting in Los Angeles to hit $5, need to research bus route information to work.
Expensive! Here its still hovering around 3.50, I can't imagine paying $5 a gallon

Never fear. Apple will invent a new number, complete with a new character. 10.4.9 will include updates to all system font files and keyboard layouts containing this new symbol.
Now that's innovation.
Ya, who says they won't use hex? Although if they have been using hex all this time it would have been OS A instead of OS 10 :) :)

remember though, you can't use the gpu's in OS X, only in windows right now. so the only way to use both gpu and cpu at the same time is in windows, unless you are good in linux, i've heard people getting it to work
Using WINE can work but it isn't easy, I tried and wasn't able to get it working. I will have to try again sometime.

I've no real issue with them trying to protect 'iPod', the issue of 'pod' as a brand though is very different.
the "carrying cases, sacks, and bags" bit could cause problems, as Pod rucksacks (POD sacs are popular in outdoor activities circles) have been around a hell of alot longer than iPods (I'm told Pod Shoes found that out the hard way, when they tried get into the backpack business.) ;)

Much easier said then done. Remember, it takes 60 votes to get anything done in the Senate and the Republicans obstructed virtually ever bill brought up.
i though the budget was not allowed to be fillibustered. It has its own rules in place on it.

Was 129.9 at Sainsburys, Hempstead (Kent, UK) until Thursday, went up to 130.9. Cobham Esso (on the M2 motorway) always used to be 1p cheaper but has now gone up to 133.9 (141.9 for diesel - ouch!) BUT:
Farthing Corner Services (BP) just after j4 on the M2, Kent - 138.9 for petrol, 145.9 for diesel!

And yes, some driving can be cut down, but not all of it. Plus a large chuck of driving is required, many people live in suburban areas and need to drive to work.
There was a study recently that showed that the bulk of suburban driving was non-work related and that most of those trips were less than two miles. We need to drive a lot less than we think we do.

I think it's to hide how good OS X is. ;)
To be honest, this is a smart move from Microsoft. If there is one thing I cannot stand about Apple, it is the silly prices they charge. The Apple Tax is stupid.
Apple definitely has the coolness going and the "halo" affect from its iPhone and iPads but in this tough economic time. Its hard to 30% and more for a Mac and you're not getting any much different in terms of hardware (other then a glowing apple logo)

This update also makes you quit Safari too. I would like to know what the reasoning is there. hmmm
It probably wants to upgrade the Silverlight plugin? Can't think of another plugin.
